Idea to boost N.Y.C. has Kodak connection
Democrat and Chronicle staff and wire reports
(Sunday, October 14, 2001) -- Speaking of economic patriotism, one of Eastman
Kodak Co.'s most vocal supporters is doing his part.
Mitch Goldstone, co-owner of 30 Minute Photos Etc. of
Irvine, Calif., has launched a campaign to convince people to travel to New York
City by airplane on Nov. 11 -- two months to the day since the attacks.
The goal: to prove that flying is safe and to support New York by spending
money on restaurants, Broadway shows and other places. Goldstone describes the
project as a humanitarian mission.
The city of Irvine and numerous other organizations are involved.
Goldstone's Kodak connections came in handy: George Fisher, former CEO,
connected Goldstone to executives at Delta Air Lines, which is providing
air services. Fisher is on Delta's board.
